What's on at the Blue Ball
So much more than ‘just a pub’, the Blue Ball is as popular with locals as day out or holiday visitors, and discerning diners from surrounding counties. We offer inspired food, superb service, wonderful wines and great beers in a tastefully refurbished, understated setting. Relax on a sofa with the papers and a drink, dine from our A La Carte, Bar & Set menu, and experience our changing programme of art exhibitions and occasional events.
Jazz at the Blue Ball
One Sunday a month, lunchtime diners and drinkers have the pleasure of the mellow sounds of Bill Coleman plus a special guest. Revisit website or contact us to check dates. Booking advisable as tends to fill up in advance but always worth checking if we have any tables left or cancellations on the day.
Bill is a freelance jazz bassist and highly regarded as a teacher at the schools of Rugby, Uppingham and Oakham. Between teaching, Bill tours with Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen and plays with the likes of Alan Skidmore, Alan Barnes, Jackie Dankworth, Clare Teal, Enrico Tomasso and Bruce Adams. In the early days Bill played electric bass in the famous 60s group Jimmy James and the Vagabonds. Later he was Helen Shapiro's pianist and M.D. for 12 years and has also played with Kiki Dee.
